Paper as Interface

In class project (for Thursday 26th Oct)

Project Description
: In our digital era paper has a strange role. In many ways it remains a static reminder of work in digital environments. Thus, the paperless office, often touted as an advantage of new technologies, hasn’t materialized. Instead it seems that we use more paper while at times maligning print and paper for not having the qualities of, say, an immersive environment.

In this project you’ll remedy that by creating a paper-based interface that serves two functions:

• bringing users back to their bodies
• eliciting an emotional response from the viewer

Use whatever to craft your solution but the key part of your solution should be paper.

Your project can be of any scale, include text and imagery or be part performance. Work in groups or as individuals. The project must be assembled and disassembled in a matter of minutes.

Have fun.
